New Board Models12/29/08
For 2009 Steve has added two new models to an already stacked board line up. The first new model, the SeaGull, is refined version of the board Sea Bass won the Oakley Pro Jr at Trestles on. It has quickly become a favorite for many of SB Surfboard’s team riders including, Ricky Whitlock, Scotty Hammonds, and Gabe Kling. All three have ridden the board and have had nothing but good things to say. The second new model is the White Rabbit. The White Rabbit is completely unlike anything you have ever seen. It features a concaved deck in the shape of a wake board to give it a more “skateboardy” feel. Steve had this to say about the new model, “I handshaped one of these boards [White Rabbit] for my new Japanese Distributor. He took it back to Japan and let a bunch of shop owners try it out. They absolutely loved it. I think he [distributor] wrote up like 20 orders for the board that day. But more than anything I am just stoked to have made such a cool looking board.” Stay tuned for photos as well as board descriptions of the new models. Post Comment (0)
SB Surfboards closes retail front; focuses on overseas orders and factory direct.12/15/08
SB Surfboards has officially closed its retail location in Oceanside, California. This was a tough decision for Steve Boysen (Owner/Shaper) to make especially given the hours of hard work he dedicated to renovated the space. Here is what Steve had to say, “When we moved into the space it was pretty bare bones and we kind of took it and made it our own. I guess that is the hardest part of closing the store but it was in the best interest of the company so it had to be done.” Now that the retail location is closed, SB Surfboards is free to expand its interests in overseas markets as well as focus on factory direct custom orders. A new Japanese distributor and the diversification into the high-end longboard market through a collaboration with pro longboarder CJ Nelson has allowed SB Surfboards to remain busy. For more information on ordering a custom surfboard or distribution inquires feel free to contact Tommy Pearson or Steve Boysen at (760) 754-8441. Post Comment (0)
